I believe that happiness and healthiness can be found when we push ourselves out of our comfort zones. I believe in risking happiness, and meditating on our death in order to live in true experiences and feel purposeful in our actions and relationships.

I am me. A husband. A father. A firefighter. I’m not perfect. I work hard.

Everyone has struggles and challenges. No one is exempt. Yet, in the face of turmoil we tend to withdraw or give in. But… Strength lies in our ability to look inward, especially in the worst phases of our lives.
If you can learn that struggle does not control you, and that in fact, you control your responses to struggle, then you can learn to manage your victories and triumphs.

When the human is faced with deep struggle, we can feel alone in it. We may reach out to those we know or those who are part of our struggle, and feel more alone when we receive minimal support or understanding. This happens because they are a part of our echo chamber… a part of our cycle.

Seeking outside the self is the fundamental agent of change. I can be an agent of change for you in your life because I will show you that you are not alone… and that in fact, your Vulnerability is what can propel you into challenging your fears and will push you to do better.

I was lost. I was struggling. I knew eventually I would be okay on my own, but I learned that I could get there faster if I challenged my self, physically and mentally through vulnerability, feedback and discomfort… through attracting others who challenged themselves and pushed themselves past comfort.

There is great value in surrounding yourself with those who will challenge you to find comfort in discomfort. They will lift you higher- to elevate your mind and body.

My experience does not all come from extensive schooling or class lectures, but from struggling, failing, adapting, and succeeding in my own life. Through poverty, spousal addiction and death, my own suicidal ideation, I’ve learned that life is about making choices, choosing action, choosing discomfort. My experiences forced me to face the pains of life, and through those fears I’ve become stronger.

Let’s seek this work, together. Let’s take stock in our ability as humans to persevere, to work, and to overcome. That is where we find elevated existence, true joy… in our choices to expand. That is the essence of life.
